Students from Around the World Visit Greenwich Village
A Lesson in Gay and Lesbian History
New York, NY, March 13, 2002 -
On Saturday, March 16, 2002, Metro International, a Tribeca based not-for-profit organization, will host a guided walking tour of Greenwich Village . Participating in the tour will be 25 Fulbright scholars and other international students from more than 14 different countries including India, China, Armenia, Colombia, Croatia, Estonia, Germany and Korea.
The afternoon tour, one of a series sponsored by Metro International to help visiting international students get out of the classroom and into the NYC community, is designed to introduce participants to the historical transformation of Greenwich Village as a "community mecca" with a special focus on the Gay and Lesbian history of the area. Through these regular walking tours, Metro International aims to promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for New York City's neighborhoods and, most importantly, for the people who live there.
Schedule
1:30 pm
Tour begins at the Washington Square Arch (Washington Square North and Fifth Avenue.)
