Foreign Fulbright Scholars Take Part in West Point Conference
Shaping Our World's Future Military & Civilian Leaders
Metro International Brings Global Perspectives to NYC Kids and Families
New York, NY, November 12, 2001 -
This week, November 12-16, 2001 is International Education Week around the world.
On Wednesday, Metro International will lead an elite delegation of 38 international students and Fulbright scholars from 26 countries (including Pakistan, India, Israel, Australia, the U.K., and Zambia) to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to take part in the 53rd Annual Student Conference on U.S. Affairs (SCUSA), November 14-17. There they will literally be shaping the opinions of America's future military leaders as they debate global issues and formulate written proposals for U.S. foreign policy.
While the U.S. Military Academy will not permit press on site during the conference, we at Metro International can put you in touch with the conference coordinators, our international student participants, and local academics able to comment on the current climate for international education. The international students and Fulbright scholars have unique voices, and their perspectives on the current war and what lies ahead is a story that deserves to be told.
International Education Week, a coordinated initiative between of the U.S. Departments of Education and the State, encourages policies and programs that prepare Americans for a global environment in the U.S. For more information on International Education Week activities throughout the world, visit: http://exchanges.state.gov/iew2001/.
Metro International celebrates International Education Week every week of the year, with programs and services that connect this area's 50,000 international students with New York City's 8 million residents. These students hail from every corner of the globe and annually contribute over $1 billion to the local economy. For further information on Metro, see www.metrointl.org.
